Rumors and News, oh my!

Second Post this week, as promised. I also have started another blog on Wordpress that I'll be updating at the same time soon (within a couple of posts). I'm still figuring out how to change stuff, it doesn't look to be as customizable as blogspot, but some people may find it more convenient.

Correction:
Correction to the date of the premiere of Human Target: the date is Wedneseday 11/17 at 8/7c. That's all the way in November. Grr. I guess Human Target will come on after some crappy reality tv show when it finally ends. Until then, the first season is out on DVD.

Rumors Galore:
-Keep in mind this is rumor: Emma Stone from Zombieland may play Mary Jane Watson in the new Spiderman reboot.

News:
- Warner Brothers announced a new Wonder Woman TV show remake. Awesome. I just hope her costume gets a little update so it's not as skimpy. I'm sure there are a lot of people who don't agree, but the feminist in me is yelling, put some pants on. They can be skin-tight, but she needs pants or maybe a short skirt. Anyway, io9.com posted an article about 5 lesser-knon Wonder Woman powers that need to make a comeback.
Pushing Daisies' Bryan Fuller has been hired to polish up the new Munsters pilot for NBC. This sounds interesting. I felt this show was one of the few shows that have aged well. Maybe it's because there aren't that many current events, the whole family is stuck in gothic era, except for the daughter. I used to watch this show on Nick-at-Night. I'll be interested in seeing what the reboot will be like.

I Am Number Four:
I saw this trailer on Yahoo! and like it. I soon discoverd it's based off a book of the same title. I'm in the middle of it right now and its pretty good. It's kinda like superman in nine of the last fighting class of their race get sent to earth, only they are being hunted down by the destroyers of their world. Here is a trailer that better describes their situation.

The main character is played by Alex Pettyfer who was in Alex Rider and the soon to be released Beastly. He is quite pretty, but a bit old for the role. Whatever, it'll still be awesome. The movie is slated to come out February 18, 2011. That is an unfortunate time. Movies released in February don't do that well.

Thursday night is not Saturday, but it's still awesome

OMG... I know this post is early, but that just means you'll get multiple posts this week. I promise.

News:
Okies, so first bit of news. Human Target will NOT be airing tomorrow. It will air Wednesday nights now at 8/7C starting October 15th. I don't know why they changed it... wait. It's fox. That's why. Although, I think Wednesday nights are better and at least the season hasn't started yet. If the season changes days during the season, kiss goodbye to human target.

Fringe is on tonight. I haven't watched the first episode, mainly because I didn't see the episodes leading up to the season finale. Also it's one of those shows I have to be in the mood for and I haven't of late. But for those of you still interested or just want to get interested, io9.com has come of with a guide entitled: Want to get into "Fringe"? These are the Episodes you need to watch. They include the episodes you need to see to really know what's going on, especially in tonights episode.

A trailer was released about the fall/winter lineup on BBC. You'll see all three (recent) doctors, but Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant are obviously not the doctor. The doctor who christmas special is featured in the trailer.

Rumors Galore:
-Christopher Nolan will be directing Batman 3 for sure (yey!). Whether or not the movie will be in 3D is still in discussion. The Director doesn't like 3d, but WB studios may force his hand. There is also some talk as to converting Inception into 3D.
-One of my favorite Webcomics: Multiplex (#516), has a bunch of rumors in it. The juiciest is the Star Wars Trilogy will also be converted into 3D. I really don't understand the obsession with 3D especially with the fact that the 3D only really looks good when shot in 3D. Whatever.

That's it for now, I still want to have stuff to say on Saturday.

Finally Fall TV - UPDATED

Sorry for the half post yesterday. I had a brain storming post that got posted. So I'm Updating it and completing some thoughts. Yes!!

This week had a lot of TV premiers and a few season finalies. Now that the summer shows are ending or over, the fall line up is taking it's place. Some shows will air this week too.

This Past Week:
Monday night we had the season premiers of Chuck, The Event, Hawaii 5-0, and Castle. Now Hawaii 5-0 and Castle are on at the same time. Thank you Hulu!
Tuesday night the season finally of Warehouse 13 and the premiers of NCIS and NCIA:LA.
Wednesday night Undercovers premiered.
Thursday night the season premier of Bones and Supernatural
Friday night I don't think anything has started on Fridays yet, or at least nothing I care about.

Predictions!!
This is now where I get to comment on shows and weather or not I'll think the show will make the cut. First up:
Chuck: I love the show and was so happy it was saved in season 3. Anyway, I like the new episode, I love how the bad guys thought Chuck and Morgan were awesomesauce spies when really they were only trying to find someone, Chuck's mom (who will be back in episode 6 I believe). Anyway, I don't know why he didn't share his searching with his mom with Sarah, that was a little annoying and so were some awkward moments. Overall, the episode was good, Chuck will be going back to the spy business, even though he promised Ellie he wouldn't. This show already has a good formula/system/whatever to be successful. The writers just need to keep producing good scripts and this show should make it.

The Event. This new show was kinda confusing. I wasn't paying full attention, but the amount of jumping to the present and back to the past was very confusing, and it happened to multiple characters from multiple perspective. Imagine a jumpier Vantage Point. This show was really trying to play up the mystery of "the Event", but failed, the mystery was too over the top. It seems like NBC is trying to create a show as successful as Lost and Heroes was (back when it was good).

Hawaii 5-0: This show is a remake. I never saw the original, but I liked the first episode so far. The pilot was all about forming the team, that's basically it. I thought that the bad guy in this episode would escape and then there would be a whole season arc about finding Steve's father's killer, but I guess the season story arc will be about police corruption and finding out who the leaks are. The episode was good, but I felt I had seen it all through the previews. The pilot was good, but the show needs to kinda find itself.

Castle: Oh, Castle. This show is awesome. The theme of the episode was about guys calling and blah blah blah. Castle comes back from the Hampton's and Beckett and the team are a bit peeved he doesn't call up. They end up running into Castle at a murder scene when an artist friend of Castle's gets murdered. Beckett and Castle then have a bet, if Castle solves the case first, he gets to stay and keep working with Beckett, if Beckett wins he goes away and leaves her alone. They end up solving it at the same time and there is some speculation as to weather Beckett let Castle win. But awesome!! If the writers keep up the good work, this show can make another season.

Undercovers: The show is about a couple who where in the spy business and end up getting dragged back into the game. They go to Europe to track down someone and find that the thing they were missing in their marriage was action so they stay in the game with their catering business as a cover. The episode was pretty good, it was directed by JJ Abrams if i'm not mistaken. But it really is hard to judge a show by one episode. This one is good, but it was just setting up the series. Luckily it didn't spend much time setting up, because they were retired spies, not need for them to train. The show can definately make it, but the only problem it has to face is that people may be getting too tired of spy dramas. There's Chuck, Covert Affairs, and Burn Notice.

That's it for now. In theme with the shows ending and new beginnings, here is a link to some shows that had incredible cliffhangers that sadly went no where: http://io9.com/5642207/most-frustrating-tv-shows-canceled-on-a-cliffhanger

Fall Awesomeness

Yey, I'm posting on time!! I've got a bunch of new news and gossip about shows returning and starting soon as the Fall line-up fast approaches!!! Dun, Dun, Dun...

New Series: Hawaii Five-0
Yeah the reboot looks really good. I'm definitely going to watch. Especially because of Alex O'Loughlin Here is a preview.

Here's Another Preview:

Premiers Monday September 20th at 10/9c.

New Series: Being Human
I recently saw all of season one of Being Human on BBC America, season 2 just premiered, but sadly I don't have BBC America anymore. I'll eventually get around to watching it. There is an american version in the works however, to air on Syfy. The trailer was taken down, but the show is indeed about a werewolf, a vampire and a ghost living together.

Returning: Sanctuary
Sanctuary miraculously got a third season, I don't know how, but it did. I'm sorry Ashlee's death and a seemingly sloppy reordering of the show really threw me. I haven't seen much of season 2 and I was surprised it even got a season 2. Doesn't matter, for fans out there, there will be more adventures with abnormals. Here is a quick look at season 3:

The show returns Friday October 15th at 10/11c on Syfy.

Returning: Fringe
Yey, fringe is back. I like this show because it's really dark, but not overly gory. It's graphic, but not too gory. They show has evolved past the Ex-files rip-off stage, especially with the alternate universe. Here is a quick glimpse, please note Spoilers if you haven't seen through season 2:

I totally didn't know she was Australian. Awesome. Show returns Thursday September 23rd 9/8c on Fox.

Mega Post!

I know, I know, I have been absent for a while. I'm going to move my updates to be every weekend so that I can actually do it.

Movie Review: Nanny McPhee Returns
Also known as Nanny McPhee and the big bang if you live in the UK. This was a cute film. This time the film was set in the 1940's during world war two. The father is off in war, while the frazzled mother has to keep the kids in order. She does successfully do so with her three kids, but when the cousins evacuate to the country, there is a big culture and class clash that starts a lot of fights. Thus enters Nanny McPhee. She clams the children down and gets them to get along and behave, all while trying to undo whatever the uncle did to their farm. He owes money, specifically the farm and wants the mom to sell it. He does everything to try to sell it. I'm not going to ruin anything else, as it is a cute movie and should be seen at least once. Although, the reason the movie is called Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang is because an unexploded bomb falls on the farm, threatening both the crops and everyones lives. I do recommend seeing it on DVD or Netflix so you can fast forward through a few awkward scenes. Nanny McPhee Returns earns a three out of five.

Eureka:
I'm finally caught up on both Eureka and Warehouse 13. Last Friday was the season finally until their Christmas special in December. Here are just some notes about the season, please note if you haven't seen everything there may be some spoilers.

The Ex-files was interesting because Jack kept seeing Nathan (who is still dead and I thought he was coming back permanently, but i'm glad he isn't) and Allison was seeing Tess. Meanwhile, Fargo was seeing a girl who tormented him in elementary school and Joe was seeing her Zane. Oh and Dr. Grant was seeing his comrade Barllow... you read right. The hallucination will go away when they resolve their issues. Beverly Barllow goes to Dr. Grant and says they need him to stop the weapon, the DED. It ends up getting stolen when General Mansfield has it moved against everyone's recommendations. After the device is stolen Fargo stands up to Mansfield saying it was his orders, against Fargo's recommendations so he can't blame him and Fargo had already submitted the report. Burn General Mansfield. So the girl is gone. Allison and Jack talk about their feelings and issues and Nathan and Tess disappear. Then they are free to Bow-Chika-Wow-wow. Joe confronts Zane saying she is over him because they never fit and throws his ring back at him, only she confessed this to the real Zane. And then Zane gets arrested because he worked on the cloaking device used to hid the generator that would have distroyed the DED and GD and his password was used to turn off the damping shield. He is innocent of course because it was all Beverly Barllow and whoever she works for. Dr. Grant realizing she was tricked confronts Dr. Grant saying that they needed the power source of the DED not the weapon to complete the bridge device. Final notes: Zoe is WAY too young for Zane, What happened to the artifact in this timeline?, Dr. Grant is really gullible.

The last episode, I forget what it's called. Henry finds a lead and Allison and him go to investigate while Joe and Jack try to find Dr. Grant (Zane gave them that clue). Jack rushes to where Allison and Henry are, but a huge percussion wave flips their cars over. Jack and Henry are fine, but not Allison. Furious Jack finds the cloaking device, smashes it off and enters the building. There he starts to attack Dr. Grant and in the middle of their fight Dr. Grant and Jack are sent back in time. Dr. Grant was trying to fix things by showing up at the precise time he left, but Jack tagged along. Jack tells him that the percussion wave kills Allison. Jack and Dr. Grant try to lay low. Jack does inadvertently stop Fargo from being caught and then gets him caught so he can be sent home. Dr. Grant tries to stop Barllow from being saved by hiding the jumper cables after he unsuccessfully can't talk him out of stealing the plans for the bridge device. He was saved anyway. Dr. Grant uses their PDA to help them get back, but before they go back, Jack leaves a message for himself in the future warning him about Allison. In the present when Jack rushes towards the building Dr. Grant and Beverly Barllow are in, her drives right into it. His car takes the brunt of the percussion wave, saving Allison. Beverly escapes.

Warehouse 13:
The season finally is this Tuesday. I'm torn between watching that and Covert Affairs, but I'll most likely watch Warehouse 13. Anyway, here is a brief (more brief than Eureka) recap so far. Arty had someone gunning for him wanting revenge. It turns out to be the son of one of his old contacts who asked for artifacts in exchange for people, mostly family. Artie didn't know the items he was asked to get were artifacts. Anyway when he found out, he stopped and his contact was no longer useful to the soviets so he was sent to prison. H.G. Wells was a huge help in this episode she was helping track down the artifacts and even helps save Artie. She gets reinstated as an agent, but Artie isn't happy. The next episode, Myka and Pete use her time machine to go back in the past to try and find an artifact. They know full well that Artie would like it, Artie surges the power to try and find out what's draining the power and accidentally fries the time machine. The woman who was a former agent from season 1, whose name escapes me, convinces Artie that it was her idea and Artie lets HG fix the time machine. Mission success and Artie places a little more trust in H.G. Wells.

Other notes:
-H.G. Wells asked to be bronzed because her trying to save the life of her daughter caused her to be careless and caused the death on a warehouse agent. She used the bronzing as a time machine. This is all according to her of course. We still don't know if we can fully trust her or why McPhearson let her go.
-Todd from the hardware store turns out to be in witness protection after a hillariously awkward confrontation and gun/tesla pulling, they discover that they aren't enemy. And Claudia discovers that Todd is really a techie. Nerd romance, Awww.

Fall TV:
Nakita: Nakita actually started last Thursday. It takes place right after La Femm Nakita ends basically. She has already escaped and is on the run. She wants to take down Division. Maggie Q was ell casted as Nakita. Spoilers: We find out that she plants someone on the inside so that she can ruin all of division's missions. We'll see if CW can turn out a good show that wasn't carried over from the WB.

Human Target: Yey this show got a second season. This time there will be a female cast member permanently. :-). I have no idea if they will find Winston or not, I hope so, I like him. Here is a preview as introduced by some of the cast of Bones... randomly:

Starts Friday, October 1st at 8/7c on Fox.

Bones: Bones season 6 will return soon. I got pissed off at the end of last season, but I will continue watching in hopes it will get better. I think the writers got a little lazy because they new they already had another season lined up. Here is a preview:

Starts Thursday, September 23 at 8/7c on Fox

Chuck: yey, season 4 of chuck. Earlier rumor gathering has told me, that the Governor will be important. He needs that watch so that the intersect doesn't fry his brain. Here is a crappy copy of the season preview:
Season 4 premiers September 20 at 8/7c.

No Ordinary family: or The Incredibles live-action as I like to refer to it is about a family that gets super powers. I've already seen a sneak preview of the pilot. It was very good. It addressed the problems in the family before hand, marital problems, the son having a learning disability, etc. and then it introduces purposes for their super powers. By the end, they realize, or rather the dad realizes that there are bad-guys out there with similar superpowers. The pilot airs Tuesday, September 28th at 8/7c on ABC

Movies currently out:
Resident Evil 4: This franchise is going to be continued into the ground I think, but I still want to see this enstallment, just not in 3D. Synopsis:
In a world ravaged by a virus infection, turning its victims into the Undead, Alice (Jovovich), continues on her journey to find survivors and lead them to safety. Her deadly battle with the Umbrella Corporation reaches new heights, but Alice gets some unexpected help from an old friend. A new lead that promises a safe haven from the Undead takes them to Los Angeles, but when they arrive the city is overrun by thousands of Undead - and Alice and her comrades are about to step into a deadly trap.
Machete: I didn't even hear about the movie until I saw a random trailer on TV when it came out. As I  understand it, it's continuing on of the shorts from Planet Terror and Death Race, the purposefully B-movie horror combo from Robert Rodriges. It may come as no shock to you all that I have no interest in seeing this movie. I'm not a fan of excessive gore and refuse to see anything by Quintin Tarintino and Robert Rodriges ever again. That being said, you may still want to see it so here is a brief synopsis:

After being betrayed by the organization who hired him, an ex-Federale launches a brutal rampage of revenge against his former boss.
Takers: I've seen the poster for this movie hanging in my local AMC theater for ages, I get the feeling that the release date was slid back a few times. I have no idea what this movie is about, just that is has an interesting cast list. Synopsis:
A group of bank robbers find their $20 million plan interrupted by a hard-boiled detective.
Rumors Galore:
-Martin Freedman, star of Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy and the British version of the office was offered the role of Bilbo Baggins, but declined to offer.
-Transformers 3 will be filming in DC
-Chuck will have Linda Hamilton in it as Chuck's mom. She appears in episode 1 and 6. Way to get geeky awesome actors as guest starts! Chuck will be keeping some secrets from Ellie, but she won't be left in the dark completely again.
-Tourchwood will continue thanks to Stars (that means it will be on Netflix :-)), this one will take place  mostly in US. A CIA agent is trying to track down Jack and Gwen because they are needed, but forces are trying to prevent Tourchwood from being reinstated.

No excuse

Yeah... moving happened and my now everything is finally over. This post is more than 2 weeks over due, I know, but I have a valid excuse.

Movie Review: Scott Pilgrim Vs The World
OMG This movie was awesome. It met all my expectations and was hilarious. It had to cram six books in to one movie so there was some changing. A lot of book six was skipped over, probably because the book wasn't out when the script was written. At first I thought the movie was going to end differently, but no. It ended very similarly to the books and was awesome. The final battle was even more epic and I like the way the last life was used in the movie over the books. It was more game like. I don't want to say much more because YOU ALL HAVE TO SEE THE MOVIE. /subliminal messaging.... Scott Pilgrim vs the World gets five epic stars.

Warehouse 13:
There have been 2 or 3 episodes since my last post... I can't remember, so I'll just cover them all here. 13.1 was awesome, it was the Eureka-Warehouse 13 crossover part one. And now I remember covering this. Around the bend, to be honest I didn't see the ending, I should probably watch the last five minutes just to find everything out. I wasn't a fan of that type of storyline. The first episode was great, there was all this intrigue with secret meetings with Ms. Frederick. I liked the first half, but there was definitely a moment I was thinking, 'I bet you it's all in his head'. And low and behold, my suspicions were confirmed when the waitress gave him weird looks. I didn't want to see Peter get himself into trouble with the Regent because he was under the effects of an artifact. The one thing i did like is that the show showed us the normal person's point of view when Peter was hallucination. He was making out with the air! It was awesome. Shows and movies typically don't show that and I always wonder what it looks like to a sane person. Thanks Warehouse 13 writers. And last Tuesday's episode: For the Team. I missed part of the beginning so I don't know why Peter was benched, I'm assuming it was because of the previous episode. Anyway, Claudia and Myka are on the search for an artifact and they run into HG Wells. She helps them out a lot, in a good way, making us question why she was bronzed in the first place and wondering if current actions can outweigh the bad. Artie has to get his appendix out... again apparently. He has a crush on the Warehouse doctor and keeps making excuses for him to see her. In the end he asks her out. yey!  And Peter goes on the date with the Vet. Getting past all the pickering, they could be a really fun couple.

Eureka:
The Eureka episode with Claudia was good. I like how they decided to use the "goo" to try and save "doctor old spice". It didn't work, but they tried it anyway. The smoking patch ended up saving his life (thank you for smoking anyone?). In the next episode, all the AI around town develops emotions. Tiny breaks loose and goes after the robot from Kevin's class, because it's its mommy. Yikes! And Henry told his "wife" the truth. I think it was the best move. He didn't feel right with having a romantic relationship with her because he doesn't know her. Which is good, but I really hope they work it out. Also, Zane was helping Allison out while she was acting director of GD. I thought that was interesting because he starting to get "tamed".

Opening today:
Nanny McPhee Returns:
I liked the original so I'm definitely interested in seeing this one sometime. From the trailers though, I don't think the kids are that mischievous. We'll find out later. Synopsis from IMDB.com:
Nanny McPhee arrives to help a harried young mother who is trying to run the family farm while her husband is away at war, though she uses her magic to teach the woman's children and their two spoiled cousins five new lessons.
Piranha 3D:
Really! Really! WTF? It looks like a mindless gore fest and I'm definitely not interested. Here is the synopsis anyway in case you want to.. I don't know... form you own opinion.
After a sudden underwater tremor sets free scores of the prehistoric man-eating fish, an unlikely group of strangers must band together to stop themselves from becoming fish food for the area's new razor-toothed residents.
The Switch:
This movie sounds interesting. I'm trying to decide If I'd be mad at that character for hijacking my sperm. I don't know. It looks like it has potential to be funny, but I'll wait for DVD. Does Jennifer Aniston know how to play any other character?
An unmarried 40-year-old woman turns to a turkey baster in order to become pregnant. Seven years later, she reunites with her best friend, who has been living with a secret: he replaced her preferred sperm sample with his own.

Eureka and Warehouse 13

Sorry for the lack of post last week, moving is a nightmare.

Rumors Galore:
-Chuck: Filming is well under way. It looks like Sarah won't have to worry about a cover anymore now that everyone in Chuck's life knows the truth. I wonder if she'll come clean to Chuck about her real name, he knows it, but it would still be nice if she leveled with him.
-Eureka: Will Wheaton will return in future episodes, reprising the same character as in All the Rage. It's amazing how many jobs Wheaton has got because he's Will Wheaton. Awesome.
-Scott Pilgrim vs the Animation: Thursday August 12 (the day before the movie comes out) from 12-12:30 on adult swim during the breaks, we'll get to see Scott in high school years, the flash back that starts off volume 3: Scott Pilgrim vs the world.

Recaps:
Eureka: The season is getting interesting. At first I was hesitant at the whole alternate time line thing, but I like the new guy "Dr. Old Spice" and I was really sad the Joe and Zane weren't together, but this last episode shows Joe giving Zane a second chance and Zane is grateful... well as grateful as he'll get. No one has stuck is neck out for him. We also finally see Fargo is actually capable of being head of GD. He's not a trouble maker any more and it's refreshing. Next episode will be the second cross-over episode where Claudia will be going to Eureka. Awesome.

Warehouse 13: Last night was the first cross-over episode. Fargo gets forced by Ms. Fredrick to go to Warehouse 13 to upgrade the computers, but problems arise when an existing system kicks on. And much like the plot of Wargames, takes over the warehouse and does everything it can to preserve itself. It turns out the software's creator put half is brain in the computer, i'm sure he meant to just copy, but he ended up transferring half is brain, the left, logical side of course. So Pete and Mika track down the scientist and Arty, Claudia and Fargo get trapped in the warehouse. Arty convinces the computer that it needs a whole brain to be effective and the computer lets the crazy scientist it the transfer the rest of his brain. But that's not the warehouse way. While Hugo1 is busy, Claudia hacks in and takes control and then Arty referses the dice, putting the whole brain back in the scientist. Yey! Oh and Todd broke it off with Claudia. Hopefully that isn't permanent.

Opening this weekend:
The Other Guys: This movie looks like it can be really good or really bad. I'll wait for DVD though.
After one screw-up too many, NYPD Detective Terry Hoitz is stuck behind a desk with forensic accountant Allen Gamble as his partner. They don't get to see real action like the department's supercops, Danson and Highsmith. Then the mismatched pair stumbles upon a big case, and it's time to get out of the office and hit the streets. They may not be the toughest cops, or the smartest, or the bravest, but they do still have guns, so watch out!
Step Up 3D: Another step-up dance movie. This time they bought into the 3D gimick. I'm not interested in seeing the movie, but if you're into dance movies, you might want to consider this one.
Moose is a freshman at New York University who befriends street dancers Luke and Natalie. Moose is invited to join their "house," a multicultural dance crew. Together, they're going to compete in the first ever International World Jam, where they will battle with the top houses from Italy, Japan, Australia, and other far-off lands. If they are going to prove themselves to be the best hip-hop dancers in the world, they will have to step in one particular direction (SPOILER ALERT: It's up).
That's all I have now. If you have any questions or comments leave them in the comment section. Also if you'd like to write reviews and help me make my Wednesday posts, submit a comment.

Brought to Life at Warehouse 13...

Movie Review: Inception
The movie was about Cobb (Dicaprio) the best extractor in the business. His team botches a job, but the person they were supposed to steel secrets from, Sato (Watanabe) hires the Cobb and his college (Gordon-Levitt) to plant an idea called Inception. They have to plant the idea for a company heir to break up his company. Cobb will then get to go home (I'm not going to mention why he can't. No spoilers here.). Ideas are much harder to plant than to steel. Cobb has to reassemble a new team and a complex anti-heist with three dreams within dreams. There is one more problem, Cobb's subconscious keeps sabotaging the job. The movie was great, well casted, the plot was really intricate, but didn't lose me. No plot holes, just sheer brilliance. I wish my dreams were like that. The only thing I can complain about is the opening. It starts at the end of the story and goes back to the beginning. It was a little out of place and unnecessary. The begging heist would have been good enough. This movie delivers a five out of five.

Warehouse 13:
Last night's episode was adorable. The team track down an artifact in their own back yard. A strange artifact projecting clips of old movies that are completely tangible... and by that I mean real. Things could actually hit you... as Peter can attest. We also meet a new person who is most likely going to be Claudia's love interest. I don't know if it was that obvious or if I read it in a spoiler. Oh well.

Eureka:
The second episode has the group locked in this alternate future. Any possibility of getting back through the time-bridge-thing were dashed when Einstein's bridge thing blew up. So the six of them (Carter, Fargo, Allison, Henry, Joe, and Dr-from-past-whos-name-I-forget) are stuck in the alternative future. More things have changed. Fargo is head of GD and is apparently a totalitarian boss, Jo is head of security at GD because the robo-cop from season 3 is Deputy. (I'm glad he's in it. i like that character). And fun stuff. They can't tell people they are from an alternate time-line though, the DOD has protocols to arrest people from another timeline so they have to keep it all on the DL. This next episode looks like we'll be dealing with what Fargo of this timeline has done at GD: looks like he pissed people off. Can't wait.

Opening this Weekend (Synopsis by !Yahoo):
Salt: A new Spy-drama movie. Apparently it's supposed to be a little 007, a little Jason Bourne and a little MacGyver all with the intrigue of: is she innocent or not. It looks like it has a lot of potential. I'm definitely going to try and see it this weekend.
When becoming a CIA officer, Evelyn Salt swore an oath to duty, honor, and country. But when a defector accuses her of being a Russian sleeper spy, her loyalty is tested to the limit. Salt goes on the run to clear her name, using all her skills and years of experience as a covert operative to elude capture, protect her husband, and stay one step ahead of her colleagues at the CIA.
Apparently the script had Salt portrayed as a man. I like the fact that it's was changed to a female character. There really aren't that many capable, kick ass female characters that aren't a sex object as well. Refreshing to say the least.

Ramona and Beezus:  Don't really know what this movie is about. I just know I'm not really their target audience. It stars the Disney girl from Wizard of Waverly Place and everytime I read Beezus I keep thinking it's Jesus and that's not right... here is the synopsis.
Based on the characters from the timeless best-selling children's books written by Beverly Cleary, "Ramona and Beezus" follows the misadventures of the mischievous and accident-prone kid Ramona Quimby and her overachieving older sister Beezus as they try to help save their family's home on Klickitat Street. This heartwarming G-rated film is one that the entire family can enjoy, from the little ones meeting the girls for the first time, to the parents who grew up with the stories.
Rumors Galore:
-Joseph Gorden-Levitt (that's right, from Inception) will apparently be the riddler in Batman 3. It's not set in stone yet, but it's looking real possible. Nolan will be directing the last installment of the Batman series, at least it's the last with him directing. Nolan doesn't like 3D (yes!) but he may shoot the entire film in IMAX.

Anticipatron TV!
The Anticipatron is a term coined by Rotten Tomato Show. They judge movies based off their trailers. I'm doing the same here, but with TV shows.
-The Event: Could the title get any more vague. The trailer isn't helpful much either. Something happens and blah blah blah. For all we know it could be the main character's car won't start. The scripts will have to be awesome and the show to be paced right in order for the show to last the season.
-Nikita: A TV show based on La Femme Nakita. Talk about femme fetals, this movie practically coined it. What has me worried though is the fact that the show is on the CW. The only good show that network has is Supernatural and that got started when it was still the WB.
-The Cape: Another comic-book inspired/based show. I like comic books and all, but still it's getting a little old. And with Syfy's the phantom out just last month, I feel like the plot for both are similar. Okay, not the same, but still: One good guy against a whole slew of bad guys forcing the good guy underground. This does have potential. I just hope the script and pacing can support the concept.

Oh, The last Scott Pilgrim Book is finally out.  Just in time for me to read it and reread the whole series before the movie comes out in August. yey!

Also, Comic-con is this week! If anyone want's to share any insights on new geeky shows, movies, etc. leave a comment.

Inception This!

News/Rumor Galore:
Tron Legacy: Pixar was brought in to help spruce up the storyline of Tron Legacy. A rough version was shown to John Lasseter, Ed Catmull, The Incredibles director Brad Bird and Toy Story 3 screenwriter Michael Arndt, according to Entertainment Weekly. Reshoots will help implement the new changes. This can be a good thing. Pixar is known for strong stories.

The Avengers: Edward Norton announced on Facebook that he will not be reprising the role of the Hulk in the Avengers. Also Joss Whedon may direct. We'll know for sure after next week's ComicCon. So that's exciting.

Coming out this Weekend (Synopsis by !Yahoo Movies):
The Sorcerer's Apprentice: It came out today, but whatever. Originally it was set to come out Friday, but my guess is when they found out how big Inception was/is going to be, they changed the date. Reviews so far aren't that great, but one of the sources is the Washington Post and they don't like any movie so grain of salt time. Here is the synopsis:
Balthazar Blake, a loopy but powerful sorcerer, recruits a reluctant physics student, Dave Stutler, as his apprentice. While trying to survive his crash course in magic, Dave learns that he has become part of an ancient battle between good and evil that threatens the existence of Manhattan. And to think Mickey Mouse thought he had problems with a couple of crazy mops.
Here is a weird Fantasia remix:

Inception: I've heard a lot of good things about his movie. If I only see one movie this weekend it will be this one. I did her a review stating that it might be too smart, but I'm fine with that. Here is the synopsis:
In this Age of Information, ideas are more valuable that cash or bondIn this Age of Information, ideas are more valuable that cash or bonds. History teaches us that anything worth a fortune becomes the target of thieves. Enter Cobb and his team, who are able to enter people's minds while they sleep and steal information. But the world of dreams is a dangerous place, including the threat of being trapped inside forever.
I am really looking forward to this film. It looks beautiful and intriging and I love Christopher Nolan. Here is a quick behind the scene look:

Scott Pilgrim Stuff:
Here is a new featurette about the movie. I'm excited. I still recomend reading the comic books as well.

TV Recaps:
Warehouse 13: This second season has really impressed me. Last night's episode was a geek's dream. Two actors from firefly, comic book heros, and a hot chick in cat suit. Beyond that, I love how the show has evovled. Pete and Myka no longer hate each other, they can effectively work as a team. Claudia finally forgives Leena while Leena is still reeling with what MacPhearson did to her. And Artie learns to let MacPhearson, or rather who MacPhearson used to be go. The escape of H.G. Wells wasn't brought up in the episode, but Leena's new weirdness might be connected. We'll find out soon enough.

Covert Affairs (Spoilers): Last night I stayed up late, just for this show. A new Spy drama about the CIA's new recruit. It was charming, but I think they may have introduced her ex-boyfriend being a spy too soon. I really want a Burn Notice/Covert Affairs cross over now.

Eureka (Spoilers of first episode): What the crap?!? The writers are changing it up. I just got really sad when Zane and Lupo's relationship got ruined by the whole time thing. And again Allison and Jack don't seem meant to be. Tess is back. I felt like I missed something. I don't remember Tess breaking up with Jack. I thought she got him the plane ticket and that was that... I think the writers took a little liberty on that.

Huzzah! TV Premiers and great movies abound.

Late post. Sorry, things have been getting crazy.

Movie Review: Knight and Day
I'm not going to lie, I totally went into the movie expecting it to be crappy. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the movie was pretty decent. No academy award winner, but a pretty good movie. Forgetting all the weirdness around Tom Cruise, I think he successfully returned to his role as the action hero. This hero is a slightly crazy, but I would be too if I was a spy who just got burned. We spend the whole movie in June's (Cameron Diaz) perspective and most of the movie we're trying to figure out if Roy (Tom Cruise) is a good guy or bad guy. The movie didn't do that great a job of hiding it, but it wasn't too obvious. Anyway, Roy accidentally gets June involved in all his CIA burn nonsense and has to constantly try and get her out of it. Good thing he works protection detail for a living. She freaks out, like any person would and is constantly getting drugged or knocked out so that the good guy can take care of the situation. Don't worry he gets his comeuppance. So moral of the story: Knight and Day was a surprisingly decent film. Not great, but good. I'll definitely add this movie to my cheese list, but I'll want to see it again. Knight and Day gets a 3 out of 5.

TV Premiers:
Warehouse 13: The first episode of the second season aired last night. I caught most of it, I'll definitely have to watch it again on Hulu to get all the details, but I saw enough to know what happens. Great start, the wrapped up the MacPhearson bit and yes Artie survives!! Way to keep us in suspense until the show aired! Now we have a new bad guy, or should I say gal? Firefly's Jewel Staite and Sean Maher will star in next weeks episode.

Eureka: Eureka airs this Friday at 9PM.
In the season opener, Jack and friends get zapped back to 1947, where they're suddenly at Camp Eureka, the town's precursor. Jack says "You gotta be kidding me" a lot, and people comment on how Henry won't stand out because even in 1947 nobody would look twice at an African American mechanic. There is a nod to Terminator lore. And in the second episode, Jack says, "Another day, another runaway robot." [io9.com]
Haven: Airs right after Eureka at 10PM
Our main character, FBI agent Audrey Parker, is kooky, obsessive and likable, and she has a penchant for discovering the supernatural wherever she goes. Her colleagues think she's crazy, and so does she sometimes. And then she stumbles on the eponymous town, where every week we'll meet another person with a supernatural affliction. These people don't have superpowers, they're just afflicted.[io9.com]

Out this Weekend (synopses provided by !Yahoo):
Despicable Me (opening this Friday):
It's hard enough being a super-villain these days. Competing with your archrival, one-upping your last heist, managing an army of minions... you might as well shoot for the moon. And stealing the moon is despicable Gru's next plan -- until three little orphaned girls invite themselves into his secret suburban underground lair and declare him their potential dad. Will Margo, Edith and Agnes be Gru's greatest challenge yet?
I haven't heard the best reviews for this movie. I heard a lot of the talent is wasted on the script being ehh. But I did hear it was a good kids movie. All that hype and the teaser trailers from a year ago have apparently amounted to nothing. Aww. If you do see the movie and disagree, please post what you would rate the movie.

Predators (opening this Friday):
The first time, a single Predator came to our planet to kill humans for sport. In the new version, a mercenary named Royce is abducted and dropped onto an unknown planet. Along with seven other convicts, cold-blooded killers, and elite human combatants, Royce realizes that this world they're on is a game preserve, and they are the ones being hunted. Outmanned and outgunned, Royce leads his band of survivors against the alien threat to determine which species is truly the most dangerous in the universe.
I haven't seen anything in the Predators series. I'm assuming this is a remake of the famous original with Arnold Schwarzenegger. Feel free to comment on weather you think this movie will be good or not.

Coming Soon:
The Sorcerer's Apprentice will open Wednesday to try and get some money before Inception comes out. The reviews for Inception look very promising. It may be the best movie of the summer.
Anyway, here is a look at The Sorcerer's Apprentice (sorry for the over the top Disney-ness):

Wednesday with update!!

Red:
I just saw this trailer for Red. A movie about a retired CIA agent who has to try to adjust to the retired life. He comes across a bunch of other retired agents as well. Something happens (the trailer doesn't explain what) and then the CIA finds them all to dangerous and puts hits out on all of them. The cast is amazing: Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman, and John Malkovich. The movie is based on a mini-series comic written by Warren Ellis and illustrated by Cully Hamner. Here is the trailer:

Twilight Saga: Eclipse:
So, yeah, I'm going to see the movie. Don't judge me. Anyway, here is some hope that the movie will actually be good: Eclipse was probably the best book in the series and the director is David Slade, the guy who directed 30 days of Night. io9.com interviewed him. David Slade on bringing the violence back to twilight.

Eclipse Review:
I went to the midnight showing. And I probably shouldn't have, but that's not the point. Of the three twilight movies, this was the best. I like how the director made it scary, almost gruesome if these vampire incarnations bled. There were some pretty awesome vampire deaths in the final battle. I'll skip the plot points because I assume everybody read the book and the movie was spot on. There were a few moments, however I was thinking to myself, God this sounds so lame out loud. There were definitely some awkward turtle moments. The wolves were awesome, bigger than I imagined, but awesome none the less. To wrap it up, the direction was great, movie was great, acting was ehhh and story was ehh. If you're a fan of the books, I definitely recommend seeing the movie, otherwise, don't. Twilight gets sparkling three out of five.

Doctor! What's new?

Doctor Who:
The ninth doctor's version of the Tardis is up for auction. How cool would it be if you could buy it and make it into a door into a secret room. I wouldn't use the real prop for that, but still awesome.

The Hitchhiker's Guide on Daleks:
Oh win! Someone created an entry into the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe about Daleks. Watch:

Toy Story Sequels?
There isn't a sequel in the works. Instead a little mini movie with our favorite toys will be aired right after the movie Cars 2. Cars 2 is scheduled to be released on June 24, 2011.

Opening this Weekend (Synopsis by !Yahoo):
-Knight and DayTom Cruise stars as an international super spy who accidentally gets involved with Cameron Diaz, an ordinary, everyday woman.
-Grown UpAdam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade and Rob Schneider are childhood best friends who reunite as adults.
-Twilight Saga: Eclipse (opens on Wednesday): In the midst of a string of mysterious killings, Bella is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob.

TV this week:
-New episodes of Burn Notice and Royal Pains.
-Good News Everyone! New episodes of Futurama start at 10PM on Comedy Central this Thursday
-New episode of Leverage on Sunday. I missed the first two because of the Phantom, and Netflix doesn't have the new episodes yet. I'll just have to try and be patient... Or I could find it elsewhere.
-The final episode (in the UK) of Doctor Who airs this Saturday. The episode with Vincent Van Gogh airs this Saturday on BBCAmerica.

Monday, June 21, 2010

Yeah, I know it's not Wednesday...

The Phantom:
Last night (and today), Syfy has aired The Phantom, an updated tale about a masked vigilante that fights evil, complete with purple suit and skulls. A lot goes on in this mini-series/tv movie. This Kit Walker (number 22) grew up an orphan, Chris Moore, a law student and Parkor (sp?) expert. The stunts gets him into trouble and that's how they find him. Both the Singh Brotherhood and Bpaa-That (The Phantom's organization). He agrees to become the Phantom after his adopted parents are killed and the Singh Brotherhood try to kill him. A lot happens in the four hours, which is a good thing. There is a lot of different things falling into place: a weird mind control technology thingy, the Sing Brotherhood going after Kit and his friends, a mole in Bpaa-That, the Brotherhood wanting a peace activist dead, a budding romance, and Kit becoming the Phantom. It all came together nicely. The only complaint I had was the bad guy was dumb at the end. I saw his demise coming a mile away.

(Minor Spoiler time!) There were two twists. The first was really obvious, that may be because they used the real actor's voice for the traitor and it was obvious who's voice it was. The second I got right before the big reveal at the end. It fooled me a bit, It was brilliant. It of course led into a cliff hanger, one I hope that will spawn a TV show. We'll see, Syfy seems to do a good job of burying potentially good shows with really crappy D-Movies.

So, for being a cheesy SyFy mini-series, I liked it. It wasn't perfect, but I'd definitely rate this mini-series a cheesy four out of five.

Toy Story 3:
I don't have a review for this movie because I'm probably not going to see it. If you want to submit a review in the comment section, feel free. How would you rate Toy Story 3?

Supernatural:
Yes! There will be a season 6. And Jensen Ackles is set to direct one of the episodes (episode 3). I'm looking forward to see how he does. Other news, Madhouse, creators of Death Note, are creating a Supernatural Anime Series. I wonder if, when translated into English, they'll use the real actor's voices. I hope so. Anyway, here are two preliminary sketches.

That's it for now. I'll write more on Wednesday including more news on what's coming out this weekend and any more rumors I come across.

Update Wednesday!

Wednesday is a good solid day to update. I can give lots of info on any summer movies out on Wednesdays and even normal Friday releases. So here it goes.

Nostalgia Moment of the Month:
When I was younger I remember watching old episodes of Disney’s Zorro. It was a 1957, black and white show, about the sly young man, Diego de la Vega, who returns home from Spain to find a dictator ruling the pueblo (town). Worried that he might get in trouble before he even gets home, Diego plays a cowardly scholar. As he gets a full idea of the troubles in town, he decides to become Zorro (a wolf in sheep’s clothing thing) and fights injustice. This show was brilliant. Guy Williams was definitely the best Zorro. Antonio Banderas did a great portrayal in The Legend of Zorro and the Mask of Zorro, but the original TV show was the best.

What brought up this nostalgic moment you ask? I recently found all (almost) colorized episodes up on YouTube and have been watching them non-stop… well almost non-stop. I’m not even in the second season yet. Here is the first episode in all its awesomeness:

Movie Review: The A-Team
I didn’t watch the original TV show, I admit it. I do know it made Mr. T famous though. Just kidding, I know the basic premise. Four dishonorably/fugitive ex Army Rangers become hired guns, essentially. This movie was a good action flick, with only one minor plot hole and over-the-top, almost unbelievable action sequences. The movie was basically an origin story, not a bad thing, but I felt like we could have summed up the back story in ten minutes instead of making it a full-length movie. The writers should have written the movie similar to the TV show format. The A-Team is a hired group sent about being bad-ass in a good guy way. After that movie, the origin story should come out. Oops. Also with the Losers out only a month ago, I felt like I was rewatching that film. These two stories were very, very, very similar: the best team gets burned and wants revenge. And the plot hole I mentioned before wasn’t so much a plot hole, but an out of character flaw. I don’t know why Hannibal trusted the CIA guy “Lynch” (could we pick a more racist name? no? okay), but he did, he clearly didn’t trust the other Lynch from before. It was lucky they caught the double cross when they did. All the poking aside, the movie did have a pretty decent plot. I like how Face takes the torch at the end and makes a plan. Overall, I’d give this film a 3 out of 5.

Coming soon: Inception
A great movie to look forward to this July. Inception. Below is a featurette including an interview with the director, Christopher Nolan.

Coming soon to TV:
The Listener, a Canadian TV show about a paramedic who can read minds, almost died. NBC aired only a few episodes on air, before taking it off. Fortunately, the shows were posted on Hulu weekly so Americans could watch the show. :-). NBC cancelled funding for a second season, but Canadian network CTV has renewed it. It's official Season 2 has been green lit.

Coming out this weekend (Synopsises by !Yahoo Movies):
-Toy Story 3 (PG): Woody and Buzz had accepted that their owner Andy would grow up someday, but what happens when that day arrives? In the third installment, Andy is preparing to depart for college, leaving his loyal toys troubled about their uncertain future.

-Jonah Hex (PG-13): Jonah Hex is a scarred drifter and bounty hunter of last resort, a tough and stoic gunslinger who can track down anyone... and anything. Having survived death, Jonah's violent history is steeped in myth and legend, and has left him with one foot in the natural world and one on the "other side." His only human connection is with Lila, whose life in a brothel has left her with scars of her own. Jonah's past is about to catch up with him when the U.S. military makes him an offer he can't refuse: in exchange for his freedom from the warrants on his head, he must track down and stop the dangerous terrorist Quentin Turnbull. But Turnbull, who is gathering an army and preparing to unleash Hell, is also Jonah's oldest enemy and will stop at nothing until Jonah is dead.

TV shows this week:
The summer season really kicks off in July. So this week look forward to new episodes of Burn Notice and Royal Pains on Thursday starting at 9/8c. And there are two episodes left of Doctor Who (in the UK, 4 in the states), Saturday. Sunday is the SyFy movie "event" the Phantom. I'll be watching, but my expectations were lowered after RiverWorld

And I'm apparently going Gaga over this movie, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, so here is the trailer to send you off with. Bye!

Scott Pilgrim Mania

I recently got the first book and it was awesome. I love how quirky the characters are. The characters are fun, the concept is fun. I highly recommend reading the books. It looks like the movie will be really true to the books. You can find them in the graphic novel section under awesome... jk. The author is Bryan Lee O'Malley.

Here is the new trailer:

Here is a clip with director introduction:

What I love about this clip is how you get to see that Scott really can fight. You also get a hint at how awesome Wallace is.

Definitely read the books they are awesome. It looks like the movie will cover the whole series instead of just one book. :-) Coming to theaters August 13, 2010.

A Long Look at What's to Come.

Lots of stuff to update. I really do need to set up an update day, Any suggestions?

Anyway, Last weekend I saw two movies: Killers and Prince of Persia.
Movie Review: Killers
Killers was great. It was a nice twist of Romantic comedy and Spy Thriller. Pretty much Jen goes to Nice, France with her family and meets Spencer. He's a spy/assassin, but he wants out, especially after meeting Jen. They get married and three years later, Spencer's past catches up with him. It was great, lots of comedy interspersed through out. The story was a bit predictable, I figured out who was behind the hit, it wasn't too obvious, but still, not a surprise. Things got more complicated when Jen found out she was pregnant. Very good addition to the story. There was just one thing that was bothering me. It was probably addressed in a deleted scene, so I look forward to the DVD. Jen leaves before the hit order to go to a conference in San Fransisco. The thing that bothered me for most of the movie is why did she come back? Did she forget something? Was it part of his "surprise" birthday thingy? Other than that, the movie was great. Lots of shirtless Ashton Kutcher. Very nice. I'd rate it a solid 4 assassins out of 5

Movie Review: Price of Persia (Spoilers)
The movie was great. I played Price of Persia Sands of Time and this movie definitely gave a lot of nods to the game. The story line wasn't the same as the game, but it was pretty close. Dastan is an adopted price, he single handedly conquers the neighboring kingdom ruled by princess and guardian Tamina. Dastan takes the dagger as a spoil of war and then gets set up for killing his father. There is a lot of bickering between Tamina and him until Dastan learns who is really behind the king's killing, his uncle. Saw that coming a mile away... just saying. Then Dastan agrees to take the dagger back to where it came from, sending it "back to the gods". Once Dastan and Tamina are on the same page, they make a good team. Two dead brothers later, they get the job done. Good news, everyone, Dastan gets sent back in time and stops the unwarranted invasion. He even gets the girl. It was sweet, my recap isn't doing it justice, I was a little peeved at how nice the ending was, but it fit. I loved how much "game play" was added into the movie. The running on the walls, the jumping, and even a zoom-in on the goal gate to open. The invasion sequence was right out of the game. It was brilliant. The movie should have casted some more middle eastern/non-white actors, but it was well acted. I'd rate it a 4 out of 5.

Burn Notice (Spoilers):
It's started back up! w00t! We find out that Mike is being coerced into helping the company that burned him. The guy who played Uriel in Supernatural, is playing Vahughn, Mike's handler convinces Mike that he needs to help them find out who helped Simon escape. Mike gets shipped back to Miami. He helps Fi and Sam help a lawyer in trouble with a biker gang. Business as usual for them. *happy face* And then Mike breaks into a government building and downloads some files. Only there is a price: he burns a spy, Jesse. He helps Jesse in the second episode of the season. He convinces Management that Jesse can be worth more alive (with his intel), but Jesse wants to find and kill the person who burned him. Brilliant! Awesome. I applaud you writers of Burn Notice. The guilt is a very interesting addition to the story, just don't pile it on too high.

Nerdgasm:
Summer is just around the corner and with it a lot of summer shows are about to kick in. Here is a look at some shows to premier soon.
Warehouse 13:

July 6, 2010 @ 9PM. Now, I'm not seeing Artie. I hope he isn't dead, they could just want to leave the suspense there. Anyway, you can watch older episodes online at Hulu or Syfy's rewind. There are awesome commentaries available for some episodes on Hulu, be sure to watch.

Eureka:

Friday July 9, 2010 @ 9PM
It looks like the writers will be playing with the format. That sounds fun. I'm a little apprehensive because so many characters left after last season. We shall see soon. And I can't wait for the Warehouse 13 - Eureka
crossover shows.

Doctor Who: (spoilers)
Almost two weeks ago we saw the conclusion to Hungry Earth, Cold Blooded, which was very sad. The person with the most to lose gets goaded into killing the lizard woman and her "sister" wants revenge when only a minute ago she didn't care. Anyway, the Doctor convinces the leader that the human race isn't ready yet for the change and the race go back into hibernation, except for the sister and her troops. They get killed off by a poison. The guy who got stung stays behind because the only cure is down there. His coworker stays behind with him. As the rest run to the Tardis, Rory gets shot and killed. Then the crack swallows him up. I yelled at my computer after that. It would have lasted longer if my friend hadn't convinced me that he can't be gone. That would just suck. I looked it up on IMDb. Rory will be back in episode 14. Have no fear!

Last week's episode dealt with Van Gogh. I've never heard that pronunciation of his name before. Sounds pretentious, but whatever. It was an interesting episode, especially when the doctor slips and calls Van Gogh Rory.

Here is a look at this week's episode:

I love how he greets people. :-) I wonder were Amy is though.

Other shows to look out for this summer:
-Leverage season 3 on TNT: June 20th at 9
-Covert Affairs on USA: July 13th at 10
-White Collar on USA: July 13th at 9
-Psych on USA: July 14th at 10
-Haven on Syfy: July 9th at 10

Phantom:
The originally movie, staring Billy Zane and Catherine Zeta-Jones was really campy and corny. Syfy has made a movie that is an update to the comic. Here is the trailer:

This is supposed to become a TV show if the movie does well enough. I'm just hoping it's much better than Waterworld. Hey Phantom: Waterworld lowered the bar, don't disappoint! Anyway June 20th at 7, be sure to MST-- I mean watch Phantom.

Catch up...

So Finals are over and Summer break can officially start!!!

Doctor Who Recap (spoilers):
Last Saturday's episode was quite tripy. We start out a few years later and Amy and her husband are expecting a baby. Then comes the doctor who "accidently" found Amy again after leaving her back home. They all take a walk through the streets to catch up and fall asleep on a park bench. They wake up in the Tardis. Alarms are going off and they find out that they had the exactly same dream. You'll need to watch this bit for sure, it's funny. The doctor called it a nightmare. :-). The Doctor gets distracted though, because the Tardis is freaking out. They are interrupted by the sound of birds and instantly fall asleep. I'm not going into too much more detail, there was a lot in this episode, so I'll just cover the main points. The second time they wake up in the Tardis, the Tardis shuts down and a man calling himself the Dream Lord tells them that one of the worlds is real and the other is the dream, but they will face life threatening problems while they try and figure out which is real and which is the dream. Nightingales again and they fall asleep. The problem in the town is that all the old people are actually aliens intent on turning everyone to dust. And in the Tardis, the ship is about to crash into a cold-burning star. So it begins. As I was watching the show I was wondering why it was called Amy's Choice. Then I realized the town was her Fiance's (Rory?) dream world and the Tardis was the Doctor's dream world. The Dream Lord does set her aside to discuss who she would choose, the Doctor or Rory. The choice became easy when one of the aliens in the town kills Rory. They all wake up in the frozen Tardis and the Dream Lord congratulates Amy on making the "right choice". The Doctor isn't convinced, he blows up the Tardis because he know who the Dream Lord is and knew that both were dreams. The Dream Lord being the Doctor is very interesting. It shows us how much self loathing he has. This could be an interesting development if it happens again.

Doctor Who News (No Spoilers):
Season 6 is a go. Niel Gaiman will be writing a couple episodes in the beginning. I'm excited, I love his stuff. Amy will return, also good. And I recently heard that a distant relative is supposed to pop up. Maybe it's Susan Freeman (the Doctor's Granddaughter from Series 1 in 1963) That would be interesting. Or maybe it's his "daughter" from the episode (who's title escapes me) in Season 4. We'll see.

Supernatural (Spoilers):
Supernatural's season finished Thursday. And the averted the apocalypse! Wooo! Sam jumped in the pit and pulled Adam with Michael inside as well. Dean promised Sam that he would live his life, so he goes back to... the girl who's name I can't remember. What really blew my mind was Chuck turned out to be god! That was awesome and a complete surprise, well done SN writers!

Now there is definitely going to be a season 6. I don't have any news yet on what exactly is in store, but pretty much, averting the apocalypse gave the writers a blank slate.

Eureka and Warehouse 13:
There will be two episodes of cross overs. Woo!!

"In the episodes, which are currently filming, Douglas Fargo (Neil Grayston) of Eureka's Global Dynamics is sent to Warehouse 13 to help update its aging computer system. This triggers a seemingly sentient computer virus that sends the Warehouse into lockdown and traps the team inside. The Warehouse 13 episode is entitled "13.1" and will air on Tuesday, August 3, at 9PM (ET/PT).

The Eureka episode entitled "Crossing Over," will air on Friday, August 6, at 9PM (ET/PT). Warehouse 13's Claudia Donovan (Allison Scagliotti) pays a visit to Eureka, hoping to see some amazing technological wonders. She gets more than she bargained for when seemingly random objects begin appearing around town. Working with Sheriff Carter (Colin Ferguson) and Fargo, Claudia has to help solve the mystery before the strange anomalies have deadly consequences...particularly for newcomer Dr. Grant (James Callis)." Iron Man Extravaganza!!

Iron Man 2:
I saw Iron Man 2 Thursday night. Totally worth it to see the midnight showing. The movie was great. Equally good as the first. Tony Stark still has demons to contest with, this time he is worried about his health and has to deal with one of his father's demons. The power source in his chest is killing him and at first he doesn't know how to fix it. He has to deal with his mortality and destructibility. A coworker of Howard Stark was deported back to the Ukraine (I believe) and his bitterness passes on to his son. Ivan (the son) wants revenge on Stark for his father and he is the major bad guy. Hammer (played by Sam Rockwell) plays an ambitious, but awkward financier who fakes Ivans death and busts him out of prison. He wants to recreate the Iron Man suit and get the contract from the government. I won't go into too much more detail because this movie really was a must-see.

Olivia Munn played a reporter in the beginning. We see her report on the Stark Expo. The joke in the trailer where Pepper kisses the helmet never actually made it into the film. And Stan Lee was also in the beginning, Olivia Munn reports on him being at the expo, but for some reason I'm blanking on who he is in this movie. (ie he was mistaken for Hugh Heffner in the last film).

Inception:
A new Inception trailer was shown with Iron Man 2. This time we get a good idea of the plot. Leonardo Dicapprio's character explains that we need security for our dreams. People can kidnap someone, tranquilize them and make them dream. In the dream they can make them reveal their secrets. Watch:  (I couldn't find the right trailer, but this one is good too.)

Opening July 16th 2010.

Super 8:
JJ Abrams is directing a new movie about aliens. The teaser trailer was shown with the Iron Man 2 movie. Not much was revealed in the trailer. I got the feeling that the entire audience was like WTF. All we see is a truck taking out a train and something in a train container wants out... and it doesn't sound human. Unfortunately the trailer hasn't been put online yet. Here is a bootleg.

Recaps and Iron Man II

Doctor Who: (spoiler alert)
I saw the episode as soon as I could online. The Weeping Angels get taken care of, but they brought the cracks to the Doctor's Attention. To his defense, he could see the one in the UK spaceship, that was on the outside. And the Tardis blocked out the crack in the bunker in UK WWII. Yeah... Somehow Amy is behind it all because something happens in Amy's time on her wedding day that blows a hole in time and space. Interesting.

Oh and Terry Pratchett rips on Doctor Who. Maybe, rips is too strong of a word, but he points out how much of plot device the Doctor is. And he's completely right, but the show is still great anyway.

Fringe:
The very Film Noir episode of Fringe was interesting. As I suspected, the whole explanation for the alternate reality was a story. Walter tells Dunham's niece a story about a PI who was burned by love and takes a case about a missing man, Peter. It was kinda cool. Visually it was Art Deco, but with modern conveniences like cell phones and computers.

Bones:
I was kinda pissed off at this episode. Bones and Booth need to admit that their in love with each other and do something about it instead of Bones pretending (quite effectively to fool Sweets) that she doesn't have feelings for Booth. And Booth is in denial, he keeps mentioning the girl he's going out with. And she's the lawyer from NCIS who had a thing for Gibbs. Interesante. Anyway, I sadly fast forward through a lot of the episode and still was able to follow the story.

Coming Soon: Undercovers
NBC picked up a new show by J.J. Ambrams. It's Mr. and Mrs. Smith that's more self aware. A married couple who were both spies retire and move to LA, but they soon get called back into action. Sounds interesting, hopefully NBC will start to get some good shows in their lineup. The only good thing in their lineup is Chuck (my humble opinion of course).

Iron Man 2:
Iron Man 2 opens this week. I'm so excited. I've already got my ticket to see the midnight showing. So I may have a brief review Friday, I might not. It is Hell week this week (i.e. The last full week of school before finals). But I found this interesting quiz for comic fans of Iron Man: click here. Oh and Olivia Munn will be playing a reporter, Chess Roberts.
