Movie Review: Nanny McPhee Returns
Also known as Nanny McPhee and the big bang if you live in the UK. This was a cute film. This time the film was set in the 1940's during world war two. The father is off in war, while the frazzled mother has to keep the kids in order. She does successfully do so with her three kids, but when the cousins evacuate to the country, there is a big culture and class clash that starts a lot of fights. Thus enters Nanny McPhee. She clams the children down and gets them to get along and behave, all while trying to undo whatever the uncle did to their farm. He owes money, specifically the farm and wants the mom to sell it. He does everything to try to sell it. I'm not going to ruin anything else, as it is a cute movie and should be seen at least once. Although, the reason the movie is called Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang is because an unexploded bomb falls on the farm, threatening both the crops and everyones lives. I do recommend seeing it on DVD or Netflix so you can fast forward through a few awkward scenes. Nanny McPhee Returns earns a three out of five.
Eureka:
I'm finally caught up on both Eureka and Warehouse 13. Last Friday was the season finally until their Christmas special in December. Here are just some notes about the season, please note if you haven't seen everything there may be some spoilers.
The Ex-files was interesting because Jack kept seeing Nathan (who is still dead and I thought he was coming back permanently, but i'm glad he isn't) and Allison was seeing Tess. Meanwhile, Fargo was seeing a girl who tormented him in elementary school and Joe was seeing her Zane. Oh and Dr. Grant was seeing his comrade Barllow... you read right. The hallucination will go away when they resolve their issues. Beverly Barllow goes to Dr. Grant and says they need him to stop the weapon, the DED. It ends up getting stolen when General Mansfield has it moved against everyone's recommendations. After the device is stolen Fargo stands up to Mansfield saying it was his orders, against Fargo's recommendations so he can't blame him and Fargo had already submitted the report. Burn General Mansfield. So the girl is gone. Allison and Jack talk about their feelings and issues and Nathan and Tess disappear. Then they are free to Bow-Chika-Wow-wow. Joe confronts Zane saying she is over him because they never fit and throws his ring back at him, only she confessed this to the real Zane. And then Zane gets arrested because he worked on the cloaking device used to hid the generator that would have distroyed the DED and GD and his password was used to turn off the damping shield. He is innocent of course because it was all Beverly Barllow and whoever she works for. Dr. Grant realizing she was tricked confronts Dr. Grant saying that they needed the power source of the DED not the weapon to complete the bridge device. Final notes: Zoe is WAY too young for Zane, What happened to the artifact in this timeline?, Dr. Grant is really gullible.
The last episode, I forget what it's called. Henry finds a lead and Allison and him go to investigate while Joe and Jack try to find Dr. Grant (Zane gave them that clue). Jack rushes to where Allison and Henry are, but a huge percussion wave flips their cars over. Jack and Henry are fine, but not Allison. Furious Jack finds the cloaking device, smashes it off and enters the building. There he starts to attack Dr. Grant and in the middle of their fight Dr. Grant and Jack are sent back in time. Dr. Grant was trying to fix things by showing up at the precise time he left, but Jack tagged along. Jack tells him that the percussion wave kills Allison. Jack and Dr. Grant try to lay low. Jack does inadvertently stop Fargo from being caught and then gets him caught so he can be sent home. Dr. Grant tries to stop Barllow from being saved by hiding the jumper cables after he unsuccessfully can't talk him out of stealing the plans for the bridge device. He was saved anyway. Dr. Grant uses their PDA to help them get back, but before they go back, Jack leaves a message for himself in the future warning him about Allison. In the present when Jack rushes towards the building Dr. Grant and Beverly Barllow are in, her drives right into it. His car takes the brunt of the percussion wave, saving Allison. Beverly escapes.
Warehouse 13:
The season finally is this Tuesday. I'm torn between watching that and Covert Affairs, but I'll most likely watch Warehouse 13. Anyway, here is a brief (more brief than Eureka) recap so far. Arty had someone gunning for him wanting revenge. It turns out to be the son of one of his old contacts who asked for artifacts in exchange for people, mostly family. Artie didn't know the items he was asked to get were artifacts. Anyway when he found out, he stopped and his contact was no longer useful to the soviets so he was sent to prison. H.G. Wells was a huge help in this episode she was helping track down the artifacts and even helps save Artie. She gets reinstated as an agent, but Artie isn't happy. The next episode, Myka and Pete use her time machine to go back in the past to try and find an artifact. They know full well that Artie would like it, Artie surges the power to try and find out what's draining the power and accidentally fries the time machine. The woman who was a former agent from season 1, whose name escapes me, convinces Artie that it was her idea and Artie lets HG fix the time machine. Mission success and Artie places a little more trust in H.G. Wells.
Other notes:
-H.G. Wells asked to be bronzed because her trying to save the life of her daughter caused her to be careless and caused the death on a warehouse agent. She used the bronzing as a time machine. This is all according to her of course. We still don't know if we can fully trust her or why McPhearson let her go.
-Todd from the hardware store turns out to be in witness protection after a hillariously awkward confrontation and gun/tesla pulling, they discover that they aren't enemy. And Claudia discovers that Todd is really a techie. Nerd romance, Awww.
Fall TV:
Nakita: Nakita actually started last Thursday. It takes place right after La Femm Nakita ends basically. She has already escaped and is on the run. She wants to take down Division. Maggie Q was ell casted as Nakita. Spoilers: We find out that she plants someone on the inside so that she can ruin all of division's missions. We'll see if CW can turn out a good show that wasn't carried over from the WB.
Human Target: Yey this show got a second season. This time there will be a female cast member permanently. :-). I have no idea if they will find Winston or not, I hope so, I like him. Here is a preview as introduced by some of the cast of Bones... randomly:
Starts Friday, October 1st at 8/7c on Fox.
Bones: Bones season 6 will return soon. I got pissed off at the end of last season, but I will continue watching in hopes it will get better. I think the writers got a little lazy because they new they already had another season lined up. Here is a preview:
Starts Thursday, September 23 at 8/7c on Fox
Chuck: yey, season 4 of chuck. Earlier rumor gathering has told me, that the Governor will be important. He needs that watch so that the intersect doesn't fry his brain. Here is a crappy copy of the season preview:
Season 4 premiers September 20 at 8/7c.
No Ordinary family: or The Incredibles live-action as I like to refer to it is about a family that gets super powers. I've already seen a sneak preview of the pilot. It was very good. It addressed the problems in the family before hand, marital problems, the son having a learning disability, etc. and then it introduces purposes for their super powers. By the end, they realize, or rather the dad realizes that there are bad-guys out there with similar superpowers. The pilot airs Tuesday, September 28th at 8/7c on ABC
Movies currently out:
Resident Evil 4: This franchise is going to be continued into the ground I think, but I still want to see this enstallment, just not in 3D. Synopsis:
In a world ravaged by a virus infection, turning its victims into the Undead, Alice (Jovovich), continues on her journey to find survivors and lead them to safety. Her deadly battle with the Umbrella Corporation reaches new heights, but Alice gets some unexpected help from an old friend. A new lead that promises a safe haven from the Undead takes them to Los Angeles, but when they arrive the city is overrun by thousands of Undead - and Alice and her comrades are about to step into a deadly trap.Machete: I didn't even hear about the movie until I saw a random trailer on TV when it came out. As I understand it, it's continuing on of the shorts from Planet Terror and Death Race, the purposefully B-movie horror combo from Robert Rodriges. It may come as no shock to you all that I have no interest in seeing this movie. I'm not a fan of excessive gore and refuse to see anything by Quintin Tarintino and Robert Rodriges ever again. That being said, you may still want to see it so here is a brief synopsis:
After being betrayed by the organization who hired him, an ex-Federale launches a brutal rampage of revenge against his former boss.Takers: I've seen the poster for this movie hanging in my local AMC theater for ages, I get the feeling that the release date was slid back a few times. I have no idea what this movie is about, just that is has an interesting cast list. Synopsis:
A group of bank robbers find their $20 million plan interrupted by a hard-boiled detective.Rumors Galore:
-Martin Freedman, star of Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy and the British version of the office was offered the role of Bilbo Baggins, but declined to offer.
-Transformers 3 will be filming in DC
-Chuck will have Linda Hamilton in it as Chuck's mom. She appears in episode 1 and 6. Way to get geeky awesome actors as guest starts! Chuck will be keeping some secrets from Ellie, but she won't be left in the dark completely again.
-Tourchwood will continue thanks to Stars (that means it will be on Netflix :-)), this one will take place mostly in US. A CIA agent is trying to track down Jack and Gwen because they are needed, but forces are trying to prevent Tourchwood from being reinstated.
Another How it should have ended, this time about Inception:
